PPL Denies Gang Rape Incident

KARACHI: The management of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Tuesday denied reports that the widow of a former employee was gang raped in Sui.

In a press statement, PPL criticised as one-sided media reports regarding the contents of a first information report (FIR), stating that Firdaus Bibi, wife of deceased PPL worker M Ayub, had wrongly accused three company employees and Defence Services Guard (DSG) personnel of raping her. It said that preliminary investigations by the PPL management revealed that Firdaus Bibi’s allegations in the FlR were completely baseless and did not even include charges of gang rape.

The company denied as false charges of illegal confinement and denial of medical examination.

It also denied making any conciliatory offers, directly or through others, to the complainant to withdraw the case in exchange for monetary compensation and prospective employment for her family members.
