LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo motu notice of the alleged live burial of women in Balochistan and ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter, ARY One World reported on Wednesday.
SC Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar ordered the Balochistan inspector general of police to thoroughly investigate the Naseerabad incident and submit a report to the court.
Federal Information Minister Sherry Rehman said that two of the five women allegedly killed for honour were buried alive, Voice of America (VOA) reported. She said that the existing laws to safeguard women from being killed for honour were defective and would be rectified soon.
