Cases registered against 421 policemen this year: CCPO

LAHORE: City police have registered cases against 421 police officials this year, said Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervaiz Rathore on Sunday.

Presiding over an official meeting, Rathore said that stern action would be taken against the officials who had defamed the Police Department.

The meeting was informed that cases had been registered against a superintendent of police, four assistant superintendents of police, five deputy superintendents of police, 36 inspectors, 71 sub-inspectors, 32 assistant sub-inspectors, 22 head constables, 232 constables, 17 traffic wardens and one junior clerk on the charges of negligence, torture of citizens, corruption and misuse of powers.

Rathore said that cash prizes and commendatory certificates were given to those officials who showed the best performance, but there was no place for dishonest and inefficient police officials in the department.

He said that the Lahore Police was proud of its jawans, as they were ready to make any sacrifice to protect life and property of the people.

The meeting was held to measure the performance of the police and purge the force of inefficient, dishonest and corrupt officials.
