Gang Rape Case Hearing Adjourned

KARACHI, Pakistan: The case pertaining to the gang-rape of an 18-year-old girl from Lodhran in the vicinity of the Quaid’s Mausoleum was adjourned to Tuesday due to the pre-occupation of the
judge. The orders on the bail application of two of the accused earlier presented in the court were to be announced on Monday but as judge was busy in other cases, it was adjourned to Tuesday.

Razia Kubra, an 18-year-old girl from Lodhran, was gang-raped inside the Quaid’s Mausoleum allegedly by the employees of the mausoleum on March 9 this year, when she came to pay homage to founder of the nation along with her family members. She was found in a shaky condition outside the mausoleum on March 17. The police registered a case under section 365/B of the Pakistan panel court inserted in to the PPC through the protection of woman Act, 2006.

Three people were arrested after DNA report confirmed their involvement in the gang-rape and
through identification parade which was conducted in the court. The first person who was arrested was a security guard of the mausoleum Khadim Hussain and two others-Raja Arif ( an Accountant at the mausoleum) and Arif Ansar ( the assistant to the resident engineer).

One of the accused, Raja Arif has, however, submitted a bail application in the court, the hearing of which is being fixed for September 27.
