Bombers target Hall Road shopkeepers after juice shops

Staff Report

LAHORE: After the explosions at the three juice shops, allegedly were ‘dating points’, suspected terrorists on Thursday threatened the shopkeepers of Hall Road involved in the alleged sale of pornographic materials through a letter threatening bombings.

Hall Road Traders Association President Muhammad Shabbir Labha received a handwritten letter bearing a warning that a series of blasts could strike the busy business hub, adding that he should adopt precautionary measures to prevent any possible damage to property as well as to the lives of citizens.

The letter, which had been dispatched from the Lahore General Post Office on October 8, was directly addressed to the association president by name and warned him of possible blasts at the market, especially at its parking lots.

Labha has made an appeal to the government to take necessary steps to restore the people’s confidence after the letter sparked a panic, as they are reluctant to visit the market. He also said that following the letter, he received several telephone calls that warned him of possible blasts.
